After a hot day in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok i find my retreat in a garden restaurant on Sukumvit Soi 20, in the heart of downtown Bangkok. The restaurant is located in a small lush garden with lots of shade and the perfect setting for a tropical metropol. The place is a hidden away gem from the tourist areas of BKK, since the Soi is not that frequented by herds of them, and traffic unlike the rest of the city is minimal so you don`t choke on the exhaust.
Also the food served here includes a perfect variation of Thai and European dishes. As soon as you sit down a fan is placed nearby to give you that nice breeze you expect from a garden environment.
The manager and owner of the restaurant, Khun Wirat – yes Khun! In Thailand you adress a person you´re not best buddies with Khun. Its polite and respectful.- He is a very pleasant fellow, always looking out to make sure his customers are satisfied and always takes time to chitchat with his guests.
Since living in BKK for one and a half year, I´ve spent lots of my free time here and became friends with Wirat – Ah, no! – what abut Khun? you really don`t need too call someone Khun when you know a person well – Now i persuaded him to start marketing his place on the internet but he was a bit hesitant to begin with, thinking of the big expenses. I presented all the advantages of being seen and heard over the Internet and that its all for free. So we started with a Group on Facebook then we move on to Twitter and so on and so forth.
I want my friend to be your friend too and Internet is the place to make friends right!?
Everybody travelling to BKK should have a friend like Wirat. It will make you feel at home in this 9 million populated mega city and you will have somewhere familiarized to go.
So next time you`re in Bangkok – say hi to Wirat from me.
By the way, why not join his Facebook group: Green Garden Restaurant Bangkok
